Is it just me or does anyone else hate bell-bottom jeans? I guess hate is a strong word but I strongly do not enjoy the appearance of them and constantly try to figure out how I ever wore them. This feeling probably has to do with the fact that I like tighter fitting clothes– minus the random huge shirts I own, but I have noticed that most of my attire is on the tighter side. For jeans and pants in general, I have a hard time wearing bell-bottom jeans. So please fashion designers everywhere, stop bringing this style back. I refuse!

On a lighter note, I’ve decided I’m going to make my mom teach me how to do Tarot cards. She’s been doing them for herself since she was about my age and her mother taught her so why not continue passing it on? Its always interesting to watch her do them and I want to understand it more. I’ll let you guys know how this turns out. Also, I’ll do a post sometime in the near future about my current and prospective tattoos.

Expect a post about the movie Zeitgeist, once I actually finish it that is.

As you may or may not be aware of, I am a vegetarian. Have been since March of ’06. Not to long, but hey you have to start somewhere. So animal cruelty is something I’m strongly against.

One thing I’m tried of is people telling me PETA is crazy once they hear I chose not to eat animals. Just because I’m veg does not mean I religiously follow PETA. Yes, I do get recipes sent to my e-mail every once in awhile but no, I do not watch their videos all the time and their web site is not my home page. I do encourage everything that can be done to stop the harassment of poor animals but I’m tired of it being assumed that I live for PETA.

Anyways, I encourage everyone to read the book Skinny Bitch. One of my friends lent me this book to try and turn me vegan (unfortunately, I love cheese and giving it up is out of the question right now because being a student, I live off of cheese and have no time to grocery shop) and even though I have yet converted, it did reassure me in becoming vegetarian. I promise, if it does not stop your habit of eating flesh, it will at least make you hesitate before you do.

Love the animals, don’t eat them. (No negative comments please C=)

Last night, I was sitting with a group of my friends and after playing an intense game of beer pong we decided to have a jam session. My friend James has two acoustic guitars, one bongo drum and a conga drum. My boyfriend started playing the conga drum and after just sitting there for awhile I decided I wanted to play also. It was at this point that I decided I wanted a conga drum of my own. Going along with the guitars to our made up music was very relaxing a lot of fun. In a few months I’m going to look into purchasing either a conga or bongo drum just to keep in my room and play with as I please.

Another instrument I enjoy is the piano. I was learning how to play when I was younger but my instructor moved and I just never got a new one. My moms pretty good at it (the reason we have one in the house) so hopefully we can both find time for her to teach me some notes relatively soon.

Even though I’m a customer service representative who sits in a cubicle basically the entire time I’m at work, they’re still picky about what we wear. For example, were only allowed jeans on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Mind you, I have Fridays and Sundays off, so I can only wear jeans once a week. Good thing I’m obsessed with dresses anyway right?

I just bought three new dresses which I’m really excited about coming in. I’m tired of having to resort to sweatpants sometimes because I feel I’ve outworn my other dresses and things I can actually wear to work.

That’s two of the things I purchased. Another thing I purchased lately is a Blackberry Curve. I really needed a new phone and I was like whatever, heres $400 T-Mobile. Please, do not get me started on T-Mobile. But still, I needed a phone and I could not resist.

I would probably be flipping out at this point about the money I’ve been spending but I just found out yesterday that Financial Aid is giving me $2366 for school and I have Bright Futures already paying for my tuition so basically I get to pocket it (besides books but that will not cost 2 grand). But that money is going straight to savings C=.

Little Tree

There once was a little tree right at the intersection of 441 and Coral Bay Drive. Basically everyday on my drive home, if I was not lucky enough to catch the light (or maybe I was lucky when I did not catch the light) and I was the first person in the turning lane, I would see this beautiful little tree. It was there on so many random occasions; My ride home from lunch or my ride home at 3 a.m., probably to sleepy to actually be driving in the first place. It was always there and every timeI saw it, for some reason, I felt an emotion that I was not feeling before I pulled up to that red light. A feeling of happiness different from the happiness I usually feel. I’m not sure exactly what it was; Maybe the fact that a tree was growing out of the road, maybe the fact that it had gotten pretty tall and the amount time that must have taken. I would always wonder about how many people must cross this intersection daily and see the tree, but never harm it. Maybe that’s why I was happy to see it. Maybe it gave me a sense of hope for the world. I never pondered the tree longer then the period I was at the light but every time I was stopped at the light, it was the first thing on my mind.

The other day, I drove up to the red light, once again the first in line. I looked over pretty fast, remembering the little tree. I looked over and it was gone. I’m not even sure if I can accurately describe the feelings that came over me but I guess it was a feeling of loneliness mixed with the fact that I felt like I lost something I had grown attached to. Something I had faith in. I believe I had figured in my head that if it had already been there so long, whats stopping it from staying there? I just always expected it to be there.

However it was removed, I hope it was worth it. I’m sure to most it was just a stupid little plant but when your able to put that much emotion into something that little, its beautiful.

Here’s a picture of the spot where the tree was. I really wish I had gotten a picture of the tree but it never really occurred to me that it would be gone so soon.

Another one of Jodi Picoults amazing books. I can not even pin point the one thing it is that I fall in love with every time I read one of her books, but every time I fall in love. Its one of the best feelings in the world, falling in love through a book. I’m not good at reviewing books because everything I write I feel like does not give the book as much justice as it deserves but I do recommend this mother/daughter/father tale to anyone who can relate to crazy family issues or just enjoys a good read that leaves you on the edge until you finish. I know I was annoying my boyfriend when I was reading this, I just wanted to know how it ended so badly C=.

One of the many benefits of working for National Geographic, I’m glued to www.nationalgeographic.com and I’m always reading about whats going in the world. Today, one article really got to me.

Chen Yunlian, a 60-year-old retired cosmetics distributor, runs a shelter for animals and after the quake she took in about 100 dogs. Its amazing for someone to just walk to the streets after the quake and rescue animals. The government though is culling animals in attempt to stop the spread of disease. Basically, without knowing if the dog has a disease for sure, they’re killing them. This makes me upset because pet owners are not allowed to bring their animals with them to the shelters they are staying at. So all animals are being killed? Thousands of dogs have been killed so far in Yingxiu, out of fear.

“The International Fund for Animal Welfare entered an agreement with officials in nearby Zun Dao township to prevent a similar slaughter. Instead of culls, dogs there were given rabies vaccinations and given veterinary aid. “ – National Geographic

Well, atleast someone’s realizing that they should not just slaughter thousands of animals.

I’ve grown up in Florida my whole life, only seeing about two other states and scared of change. 18 years young.

My interest range from fashion to e.e.cummings poems to giraffes. I guess that’s why I made this;
I wanted a place to ramble about all of my interests.

I’m about to begin my first year at Broward Community College and I chose my major off of
just one of my interests- Pyschology. I have no idea what I would like to do with my life but
hopefully while I’m getting my Associates of Arts degree I will figure it out.

I work for National Geographic, which I love. My interests for the world and animals gets fed
here. And because I’ve been a Customer Representative for a year and a half, I’d say I have
some decent people skills.

Expect some random, but interesting, posts.
